Solo
I
play a wide range of different music on the accordion,
sometimes with vocals for many types of events.
Also, I
have become very popular playing French music with optional
dressing up!
Duo
My
duo consists of gypsy jazz guitar, my accordion and vocals.
Sometimes
I play the melodica too!
Bands
The
Helen Maher Ensemble
A
flexible ensemble, ranging from a 3-piece up to 8 players!
This
again uses gypsy jazz guitars as a foundation, myself
on accordion and vocals – and then usually a bass player
plus
sometimes drums,
trombone, trumpet, flute, steel drums(!).

Wing
This
is a very exciting project currently being developed.
Jez
Wing, composer / performer is writing an album and I
am playing
accordion for him. One song has
been recorded already
and many
beautiful songs are in the pipeline – just
gorgeous music!
Jez
Wing formed the band Black Cat Theory with banjo player
John Dowling and
in the year 2000
they won
first place in
the Young
Folk Musician of The Year for BBC Radio 2.
As
well as writing his album, Jez is currently the keyboard
player with Echo and the Bunnymen.
Session
work
I
quite often do smaller jobs for bands like recording
on albums or occasional gigs.
